Some pretty wonderful people here in Willits and in Calpella put in loads of time, energy and talent over the past four months replacing the old wooden dugouts on Little League's farm field with new block ones. Willits PAL and Willits Redwood Little League joined forces to do the project. It was a real team effort and I want to thank everyone who took part.

Mendocino Redwood Products, Microphor, Willits Redwood Products, and Willits Furniture donated the cash (a total of $1,500) for materials. Parnum Paving donated concrete and grout as well as the services of their drivers John Schlegel and Rick Gialdini. Ray Hansen of Empire Pumping donated the services of his pumper to pour the grout. K-Arrow donated one-half the cost of his welding, Mendocino Roofing donated the labor for placing the roofing materials which were donated by Mendo Mill & Lumber, and Mendocino Redwood Products donated lumber and the services of two of their welders, Michael Dodd and Gary VanPatton.

Bill Farmer of Mendo Mill & Lumber gave us a great deal on our materials and even donated fencing materials.

Fred Page, local Willits masonry expert, put in long hours setting the concrete pads and walls in place along with help from his son Shawn, and helper, Sam.

Those folks from Little League who did a major part of the work are: Sterling Wright, Dave Rupe, Jay Bonnet, Ray Bean, Tom & Stephen Summers, Jerry McFadden and Ken Ridgeway.

Also helping were Cynthia Pardue (as well as member of the PAL Board), Cary Koski, Mike Mills and Dough Goss of Mendocino Redwood Products, who also donated lumber for the roofs.

Doug Howard helped out when available most work days lending a hand when and where needed.

While we have not been using the farm field, Willits PAL has been using the other two fields for the Jr. Giants Baseball Program for the past four years with intentions of using them for years to come. This was our way of contributing to Little League's on-going improvements of the fields.
